Department of Telecommunication Engineering
Introduction
There are about 65 students graduating every year from the "Telecommunication Engineering" study branch after successful presentation of diploma thesis and passing the final state exam. The Department of Telecommunication Engineering participates in education of bachelor, Master and doctoral study programs. Its goal is to prepare bachelors and engineers who would be able to face problems in the areas of information systems, switching and transmission systems, systems of data transmission and processing etc.; they would find their job opportunities in research, design and construction, production and operation of telecommunication systems of any type.
The department is diveded into 5 groups.
In the bachelor stage of the "Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering" study branch, our Department provides such subjects as Fundamentals of Digital Technology, Telecommunication Systems, Data Transmission, Telecommunication Lines, Fundamentals of Data Communication, Microprocessor Technology in Telecommunication Systems, Electromagnetic Compatibility in Teleinformatics, etc.
In the Master stage we ensure compulsory subjects (Transmission Systems, Switching Systems, Digital Data Processing, Means of Data Communication, Optical Communications, Telecommunication Networks) as well as optional compulsory subjects (e.g. Communication in Data Networks, Integrated Services Networks, Securing of Data Transmission, Telematic Services and Multimedia).
The Department also provides doctoral education in Telecommunication Engineering, both in presence and so-called combined (distance) form.
Besides specialized lectures, an emphasis is traditionally put on quality laboratory exercises supported by necessary technical equipment, which is being built and updated continuously with the significant help of manufacturers and operators of telecommunication systems. At present time we have several specialized laboratories that may serve not only for common education, but also for solving of professional problems from the industry.
